Scott Presler, who is known as a tall, friendly, and gay face of the MAGA movement, built a persona in which he was always smiling and shaking hands with every fan who followed him to a county commissioners’ meeting in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The meeting itself was tense, with Presler’s acolytes repeatedly shouting “TRAITOR!” at a Democratic official, but Presler himself remained upbeat. He told the commissioners that for the first time in modern history, there were more registered Republicans than Democrats in the county. His speech was shared across YouTube, X, Rumble (a video streaming site that’s often home to the canceled), and elsewhere.

Presler’s fame on social media has enabled him to take concrete political action. He used his influence to register new Republican voters, targeting groups like the Amish, frat guys, and hunters. The PAC he founded, Early Vote Action, received a $1 million donation from Elon Musk. He spoke about his get-out-the-vote efforts on tons of right-wing podcasts, including those hosted by Donald Trump Jr., Steven Bannon, Megyn Kelly, Dan Bongino, Benny Johnson, and Charlie Kirk.

On Kelly’s show, he called himself “a data guy,” and got into the weeds on voter registration numbers. His shift from provocative stunts to concrete political action is remarkable given his background. He was involved with Gays for Trump and was at the insurrection of January 6, 2021, calling it “the largest civil rights protest in American history.”

Despite spending less money and with a smaller get-out-the-vote operation than Kamala Harris, Trump won all seven swing states. Presler’s work is unlikely to be solely responsible for the difference. But his efforts to target specific groups such as “our beautiful truckers” and “our beautiful hunters” and promote mail-in voting with the Amish have been effective.

After the Bucks County commissioners’ meeting, a crowd of adoring Presler fans applauded his “phenomenal efforts.” They praised his boots-on-the-ground work and handwritten postcards to voters. They said he was the most dynamic Republican in Pennsylvania and that he was the most brilliant dynamic leader they had ever seen.

However, the sunny positivity before and after the meeting didn’t quite match what happened inside it. Despite targeting a session after a Democratic county commissioner had wanted some unsigned and undated ballots to be counted, there was still tension in the air.

Overall, Scott Presler has built a reputation for himself as a political activist who uses social media to promote his ideas and mobilize voters. He has used his influence to promote conservative ideals and has been effective in registering new voters and mobilizing them to vote. His work has been recognized by Republicans within the party and has earned him a place to help them in future elections.
